Hello from Cabo:

It has been an incredibly  beautiful Summer here in Cabo.  The water is in the upper 80’s and it is as beautiful as I have seen in my 20 years here in Cabo. Totally awesome out there. We have all the makings for a great Fall/Winter fishing season, as the areas just North of here are covered with fish and the migration will begin soon, sending all pelagic species right here!

Badmedicine Sportfishing

The excitement is already in the air, as the tournaments start next month. There have already been some MONSTER Blue Marlin caught this Summer and the Black Marlin are showing now. Everyone is breaking out the heavy gear and getting “tournament ready!” This is the best time of the year in Cabo.

After buying our new 35’ Cabo Sportfisher this past June, I believe I finally have it all ready to roll. Getting things “just right” takes a little time (and substantial expense), but we are now 100% “dialed in” and ready to hit the season very hard. My crew is so proud of their new vessel they can not stop smiling. The new Cabo is so much quieter and faster than our old boat, it is truly a pleasure to ride.

The big Tuna are here now outside on the 1,000 fathom curve. Many fat ones have come to the dock. Less fishing pressure and perfect conditions in the Summer months seem to equate to more of those 100-200 lb fish. There have been some full coolersheaded North these days that’s for sure.

The Dorado are here but they seem to move in and out. Up on the Pacific side 1-3 miles off shore has been super hot action most days, and there is always the occasional Striped Marlin or Sailfish mixed in there. The mornings up there are magical. Glass calm seas and a short run from the dock.

The Bad Medicine has also finally got into the fly fishing action. I got some great equipment on board, and had a professional fly angler show my guys the basics. We have done well this Summer, but honestly we are still learning as when a fish comes up in the lures and the adrenaline begins flowing, we still are not 100% used to grabbing the fly rod. My captain Bernie still wants a bait in the water in seconds and most times he is hooked up the “traditional way” before the fly can hit water! That is a good thing I guess, but for those that want to seriously fly fish, we are ready for you.

It feels like the “good old days” in Cabo as this Fall is packed! We do have dates available on the boat for November and December, and a few dates still open in October.  We also limited space here at Cabo Villas Beach Resort and Spa for our fishing package you can see on either website. We look forward to serving you and to getting you on the water!
